From the very beginning of the 19th century, the two mineral water springs
of "Santo Gemini" ( at that time a small village "along the road that leads to
Todi") were so renowned that the local administrators decided to take advantage
of the therapeutic properties of the water and consequently established the
first water bottling plant that comprised all the production phases, starting
from the bottle rinsing phase right through to the capping phase.
The plant
at that time, employed 50 employees and a crate of 50 1litre bottles cost 24
liras ( more or less one cent of a euro) and a half litre case, cost 18 liras.
The San Gemini brand soon became an Italian household name and distinguished as
"incomparable table mineral water".
The characteristics and the properties
of the San Gemini water were constantly examined and with the help of
medical-scientific sources, this water was found to be particularly suitable
for infants. As a result, three generations of Italians grew up thanks to the
"children's water".
Today, that bottling factory houses two plants, one for
the production of Sangemini mineral water and for Acqua Fabia brand mineral
water and the other one for the production of soft drinks and fruit juices Vita
and Camomilla. Both plants are equipped with technologically advanced
facilities and modern machinery, among these, the aseptic line for the
production of Vita fruit juice supplied by GEA Procomac SpA.
Recently GEA Procomac Packaging has realized the traditional end-of-line
system, supplying two new pack conveyors, pallet conveyors and
palletisers Agilis 2000D to replace the existing one. The
palettizers with double - high level product infeed, vertical
lift pallet loading system are coupled by only one operator service platform
and equipped with motorized divider unit. The line is pre-arranged for
processing euro and chep pallets and (düsseldorfer) half pallet to attain a
production speed of 43.200 bph packs 3x2 format 1.5 lt.
The line is fitted with a centralised pallet control
system with brushing device which rejects the non suitable pallets
(for one production), stacks the good ones and distributes the pallets to the
new palletizers and to the existing one (supplied by GEA Procomac Packaging)
through a shuttle with two pallets on board. The palletizers are equipped with
a supervision system with closed circuit cameras that locate any
possible alarms on the upper part of the machine structure, thereby
the operator does not need to conduct an inspection or have to find the
relative alarm.
